Mooresville Downtown Merchant Trick-Or-Treating Set Rain Or Shine

Merchants will be handing out candy, rain or shine in downtown Mooresville as the region braces for afternoon thunderstorms.

MOORESVILLE, NC β€” It will take more than a little rain to dampen the spirits of trick-or-treating in downtown Mooresville this Halloween. Merchants will be handing out candy to kids in costumes in the annual holiday tradition, rain or shine, the Town of Mooresville said Thursday.

The annual tradition of trick-or-treating with merchants in downtown Mooresville is planned on Main Street from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Trick-or-treating plans will need to come with a Plan B this year, as a line of strong thunderstorms is expected to reach the piedmont of North Carolina later this afternoon and early evening.

Thursday morning, the National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for the greater Charlotte metro region, saying a line of showers moving into the area this afternoon will strengthen, with some thunderstorms becoming severe over the Interstate 77 corridor.

β€œAny of these storms will produce cloud-to-ground lightning, gusty winds, and torrential downpours,” NWS said. β€œSome thunderstorms may also produce damaging wind gusts or an isolated tornado.”
