• Ocracoke Secures Community Square Against Development (hoodline.com) — Ocracoke’s Community Square is now legally shielded from large-scale redevelopment, protecting its historic waterfront shops, docks, and fish house at the heart of the village. A new preservation easement covers five key buildings and nearby boat slips, helping keep the working waterfront, public access, and local jobs intact as coastal real estate pressures grow.
