• OVFD contains vehicle fire at NPS Campground (ocracokeobserver.com) — Ocracoke’s Volunteer Fire Department quickly contained a camper van fire at the NPS Campground on Monday night, preventing injuries and limiting damage to one vehicle and a nearby tent. OVFD crews, National Park Service staff, Hyde County deputies, and EMS all responded, soaking surrounding brush and assessing the campsite for any needed repairs.
