Wilmington Police investigating pedestrian death (starnewsonline.com subscription) — Wilmington police are investigating a deadly hit-and-run that killed a 58-year-old pedestrian on South 17th Street early Sunday, the second pedestrian death in the city over Labor Day weekend. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Wilmington Police Department or submit an anonymous tip through Tip 411 to help identify the driver.

Staff members focus on housing, coordinated care and trauma recovery, and recently held a local fundraising luncheon to expand services for survivors in the Wilmington area.

A local Sea Tow captain urges area boaters to slow down, plan for emergencies, designate a sober operator, and keep life jackets and anchors ready as the season winds down.
