North Wales Man Hits Police Horse, Trooper At Eagles Game: Cops

A North Wales man was arrested before the Eagles game Sunday after he attacked a police horse and mounted trooper, cops said.

NORTH WALES, PA — A North Wales man was arrested before the Eagles game on Sunday after attacking a police officer and his horse, according to the Philadelphia Police Department.

The incident occurred at around 3:15 p.m. in the M5 parking lot outside of Lincoln Financial Field as tailgating prior to the game grew increasingly rowdy.

Andrew Tornetta, 19, was part of a crowd which police tried to disperse, authorities said. Police said Tornetta refused and became combative, punching the horse twice and hitting the trooper in the side of the face.

He then allegedly tried to flee and blend in with the crowd before he was ultimately arrested, police said.

Tornetta has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and related charges, police said.

He previously pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct in a Montgomery Township incident that occurred in January 2017, court records show.

Police said five others were arrested Sunday in connection with the game. Two were for taken in for disorderly conduct and three people who were allegedly selling counterfeit tickets were arrested

It marks the second incident of Eagles-related violence against a police horse since the NFL playoffs began. Last week at the Eagles-Atlanta Falcons game, a Lehigh County man was arrested for a similar incident.
