60s Predicted For Christmas Eve, Christmas Day

With temperatures in the 60s, it might not even feel like winter this Christmas in Pennsylvania.

When Santa visits Pennsylvania this Christmas, he might think his sled took a wrong turn for Florida.

According to an extended forecast released by the Weather Channel on Wednesday night, temperatures in the Philadelphia region will be in the 60s on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

The Weather Channel’s extended forecast predicts a chance of showers on Christmas Eve, with a high temperature in the mid 60s. There is a 50 percent chance of rain on Christmas Eve.

On Christmas Day, the Weather Channel calls for temperatures in the low 60s, with partly cloudy skies. There is a 20 percent chance of rain, according to the Weather Channel’s extended forecast.

The unseasonable temperatures are part of record-breaking warmth this December.

High temperatures in the Philadelphia region broke records for the fourth day in a row on Tuesday.

The record-breaking streak began Saturday, when a high of 69 degrees was recorded in Philadelphia. Then on Sunday, the official thermometer at Philadelphia Airport peaked at 71 degrees, followed by 70 degrees on Monday, according to Accuweather.

The previous high temperature on Dec. 13 was 65 degrees, which was set in 1923. Monday’s 70-degree weather broke a previous high of 69 degrees that was set in 1881. Tuesday’s high was 69 degrees, which was recorded at 1:14 a.m., the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.

It will cool down over the weekend before the next batch of warm weather arrives mid-week. The Weather Channel predicts low temperatures in the 40s on Saturday and Sunday, before mild 50-degree days are expected on Monday and Tuesday.

By Wednesday, it will feel like spring again, with at least three days of 60-degree temperatures predicted.
