Betsy Hunt Running For Newtown Borough Council In Ward 2
Experienced businesswoman and realtor is seeking her first elected office in Newtown Borough.

NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Betsy Hunt, a local businesswoman and realtor, has announced her candidacy for Newtown Borough Council in Ward 2.
Hunt will be running unopposed on the Republican ballot on Tuesday with Bernie Sauer for two open seats on council. Also running unopposed on the Democratic ballot are Julia Woldorf and Josh Phillips.
“As someone who has lived in Newtown for over 20 years, owned and operated small businesses, and now works as an experienced realtor, I have witnessed firsthand the vital role of local government," she said in announcing her campaign. "Unfortunately, I have also seen the consequences of having incompetent elected officials in charge. With my deep knowledge of development, town planning, and real-world experience in dealing with Newtown Borough government, I understand the importance of electing officials who are practical, down-to-earth, and committed to the needs of our community.”

Hunt continued, “We need fresh, no nonsense thinking on the council and that is why I am running for office. I am committed to making government more transparent and accountable, with a focus on delivering practical results, bringing projects to completion on time and on budget rather than running on and on year after year. For me, politics takes a backseat to the needs of our community, and my only priority is what’s best for the residents of this town. By bringing a common-sense approach to the table, I am confident that I can make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people I hope to serve.”
According to her press release, Hunt is a well-known and respected businesswoman in Newtown, with a background in real estate, hospitality, and town planning. With nearly 20 years of experience living and working in Newtown, Hunt said she understands "the needs and concerns of the local community and is passionate about helping to shape the town's future."

Hunt attended the College of St. Elizabeth and has experience in historic renovations, land development, and town planning. She previously served as a council member in Lawrence Township, New Jersey, and was the former "Steward" of "The Bird in Hand," a local South State Street landmark.
Hunt, who is known for her fair, decisive, and action-oriented approach, said she is committed to "breaking logjams and fostering new ideas" to realize Newtown's full potential. If elected, she said she would "work tirelessly to promote the town's interests and attract new businesses and visitors."
In addition to her experience in town planning and hospitality, Hunt has also found success in the local real estate market. As a long-time realtor serving Newtown and the surrounding areas, she has a deep understanding of the local housing market and the needs of both buyers and sellers. Her business skills and experience have helped her to launch and manage a successful upscale French bistro restaurant and B&B, which was reviewed by The New York Times and voted one of the "10 most romantic restaurants in New Jersey".
"My practical, no-nonsense approach and ability to work effectively with developers, contractors, investors, planners, town leaders, and citizens makes me an ideal candidate for the Newtown Borough Council," she said. "With my vision, leadership, and commitment to excellence, I am poised to help Newtown realize its full potential as a thriving and prosperous community."
