Burglary, Arrests For Suspected DUI Lead Newtown Twp. Police Report

The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 12 and 17.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Jan. 12 and 17:

January 12

  • At approximately 4 p.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township home for the report of a burglary. The investigation is ongoing at this time.

  • At approximately 11:45 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Dodge for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and South Drive. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of marijuana. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

January 14

  • At approximately 12:30 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Tesla driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • At approximately 10 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a BMW operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

January 15

  • At approximately 1:15 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan driver for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
  • Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence around 12:30 p.m. for the report of a theft. The situation was resolved by the residents.

January 16

  • A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 10:30 a.m. to report an incident of fraud involving identity theft. The resident was advised to contact his bank, credit card company, and credit bureaus to further monitor her accounts.

January 17

  • At approximately 11:15 a.m. police were dispatched to the area of Swamp Road and the Newtown Bypass for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. As a result of the investigation, the driver was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Camden County Sheriff’s Department and transferred without incident.

January 18

  • At approximately 12:15 p.m. police were dispatched to a Newtown Township home for the report of a theft. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
  • Police were dispatched to the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road around 11:45 p.m. for the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The driver refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.
