NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — During a campaign rally on Saturday in Newtown, Dr. Mehmet
Oz, the Republican candidate for U.S. Senate, rushed to the aid of a woman who had suffered a medical emergency.

Conservative radio talk show host Dom Giordano was warming up the crowd inside the Newtown Sports Training Center around 6:30 p.m. when a woman near the front of the rally collapsed.

Within 30 seconds, Dr. Oz had sprinted from the back stage where he was watching the rally on a closest circuit TV, climbed over a metal bike-rack type of barrier and was by the woman’s side.

Newtown Athletic Club owner Jim Worthington, who was seated just feet away from the woman, saw the whole thing unfold.

“He literally came out of the back, ran right past me, put his hands on the bike rack and hurtled himself over. And by the way this guy is 60 years old. He literally was there in 30 seconds. He just immediately began doing his doctor thing. He checked her pulse. He jumped in and did the whole nine yards.”

Also responding to the woman’s side were State Rep. Frank Farry, the chief of the Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company, and state senate candidate Matt McCullough, who is a Registered Nurse anesthetist.

“Within seconds you had a world renowned surgeon, a fire chief and a Registered Nurse right there. She was in good hands,” said Worthington.

Within minutes, the Newtown Ambulance Squad had arrived on scene and treated the woman. Applause filled the room as she was wheeled out of the building on a stretcher.

According to Worthington, Dr. Oz continued to check in on the woman’s progress throughout the evening.
