DUI Charges Pending Against Drivers: Newtown Township Police Report

Police also conducted a truck safety enforcement detail along the Newtown Bypass. Find out how many trucks were stopped and inspected.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Between March 1 and March 6 the Newtown Township Police Department made two DUI arrests and conducted a commercial truck safety detail.

March 1

  • At approximately 3:18 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a disabled Toyota sedan in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Buck Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

  • At approximately 9:14 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a disabled Honda CRV in the area of Stoopville Road and Linton Hill Road. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

March 6

  • The Newtown-Makefield Truck Enforcement Unit conducted a commercial vehicle safety detail at the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. The unit is made up of officers from Newtown Township, Newtown Borough, and Upper Makefield. During the detail, 10 trucks were stopped and inspected. No trucks were placed out of service. One citation and six warnings were issued for violations that were found.
