Questions

1. Why are you running?

Quality of Life is most important to me. I will continue to work with my fellow supervisors to help Newtown remain a community that honors and reflects our historic past, while facing the future with open arms.

2. What are the top issues facing the township and how do you plan to address them?

1. Finances/Expenses. 2. Revenue Generation. 3. Personnel. I will always insist that expenses be kept under control by proper budgeting and tight fiscal management. We must think "outside the box" to find new ways to generate income that will allow us to maintain and expand our excellent staff and public services, such as police and fire/emergency personnel. It is most important that we continue to serve the township at the level of excellence the people deserve and to which they are accustomed.

3. What would you work to accomplish over the six years?

We must continue many of the projects we have begun, and always seek other opportunities to improve our community. For example, we are close to implementing a new zone in our Business Commons that allows for retail, commercial, entertainment, food outlets and limited residences, that would be family friendly, and a potential exciting new destination for everyone. I will also always seek to keep Newtown well protected by finding funds needed to hire and retain the best employees, especially for our police and fire/emergency departments. We must be open to new ideas that improve our town.

4. What is your position on a new sewage treatment plant in the township?

This possibility is in its very early stages at the Newtown Sewer Authority. If it moves forward, the proposed new wastewater treatment plant would make Newtown Township and Borough self-sufficient, and free us from the rate increases of the county sewer & water authority. Our utility is top notch and well run, and provides excellent service to our residents. They would also have to meet the stringent requirements of the Department of Environmental Protection to be sure we remain safe and that the new plant is a strong benefit to our community that we can all be proud of.
