Questions
Why are you running?
As a mom of a child who recently graduated from Council Rock High School South and the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology, I have seen first-hand how great the staff, teachers and our community can be when we all work together. However, recent events have caused me concern and I felt the need to step up. There is now a generation of students who have had their education disrupted and I believe my business and life experiences will be an asset to the Board to help get our children back on track. Focus needs to be placed on education and skills which enable every student to live a successful and prosperous life.
What are your top issues and how do you plan to address them?
The learning loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as current social challenges are having a direct impact on the ability of students to succeed. We need innovative strategies to encourage current and future students to focus on core academic subjects and ensure that our educational curriculum is relevant and engaging. It is also imperative to expose students at a young age to alternative career choices, especially the trades, and not only focus on higher education.
What policies would you change, revise, delete or retain and why?
I would retain the great Council Rock policy 109 that is in place for review of resource materials. Since the Democrats keep pushing the false narrative of “book banning,” I will set the record straight once again. There is no “book banning” in Council Rock and there is absolutely no plan of any “book banning” in Council Rock.
If elected, what would you fight to change or keep the same?
I support the Nights for Knowledge program by Council Rock. This great program was created after seeing the PSSA/standardized test scores declining further after Covid. I support Council Rock in examining this issue and working together to find a way to further support the students who may need additional support.
