Questions
1. Why are you running?
My decision to pursue public office is motivated by a desire to contribute a distinctive blend of practical business acumen and a profound appreciation for the evolving needs of our community, all while honoring the cherished historical legacy that defines our small town's unique character. Furthermore, my comprehensive knowledge in the realm of construction and development can be a valuable asset to support the Borough's expansion and infrastructure requirements.
2. What are the top issues facing the borough and how do you plan to address them?
A. Pedestrian Safety: I am committed to collaborating with fellow councilors and relevant committees to implement all necessary measures aimed at ensuring the safety of pedestrians on our streets.
B. Traffic & Parking: I intend to foster a collaborative partnership between the Borough and the developer of Steeple View, with the objective of establishing a shared endeavor for the construction of a parking facility. This facility will also serve as the new home for the Newtown Borough Police Department.
C. Borough Manager: I remain skeptical about the necessity of augmenting the borough's fiscal obligations by appointing a Borough Manager. A manager could cost borough taxpayers up to $200,000.00 for salary, benefits, pension, etc. Throughout its history, Newtown Borough has operated effectively without such a position. I believe that, with the election of the right individuals, there is no need to allocate taxpayer funds to this hiring.
3. What are your ideas for improving the town?
A. Ensuring Full Support for First Responders: Prioritizing comprehensive backing for our first responders is essential in safeguarding our community's well-being.
B. Redevelopment of the SEPTA Lot: I advocate for the revitalization of the SEPTA Lot situated across from Linton Hill Park. The transformation of this space into a park, leveraging my expertise in Act 2 remediation, could offer myriad benefits. This park could serve a variety of purposes, such as a dog park or other recreational facilities as deemed suitable by our residents.
