K9 Called To Investigation On Jane Chapman Dr. And Other Recent Police Activity

Newtown Township Police reported the following recent activity:

March 22

At approximately 9:30 a.m., a resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters to report that he was the victim of tax fraud. He explained that his accountant had recently filed his tax return electronically. The victim received a letter from the I.R.S. stating that his taxes were being declined because his social security number was already in their system as having been attached to a different return. The victim had filled out the Federal Identity Theft Affidavit report.

Around 10:35 a.m., police were dispatched to a property on Richboro Road near Shir Ami Synagogue for a report of a theft. The responding officer met with the property owner who told him that a large extension ladder valued at $3,000 had been stolen from the rear of the property. The victim said that the ladder was last seen about two weeks ago.

A resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters shortly after 12 p.m. to report that he received notification from Chrysler Corporation that an unknown woman in Tennessee or Texas was attempting to purchase a vehicle using his personal information including his social number.

Around 2:10 p.m., a Newtown Township resident reported that her credit card number was used at various stores in Texas to make unauthorized purchases. The fraudulent purchases exceeded $2,700. The victim was gathering needed documentation to provide to her bank in hopes she will be reimbursed for her loss.

Around 8:30 p.m. police responded to an alarm activation at a home on Jane Chapman Drive West. The first officer to arrive began to check the exterior of the home and discovered a broken window. Additional officers were requested along with a K9 team from Lower Makefield. The scene was secured until the home was cleared by the K9 at which time Newtown Township detectives assumed responsibility for the scene and following investigation.
