Newtown Bakery Whips Up Cake For Washington's Birthday Celebration
The Caketeria on Washington Avenue has contributed the red, white and blue centerpiece cake to the event for the past nine years.

WASHINGTON CROSSING, PA — A Bucks County bakery will again provide the centerpiece cake for George Washington's birthday celebration on Sunday at Washington Crossing Historic Park.
For the ninth year, the Caketeria on Washington Avenue in Newtown Borough, will be providing the event's signature birthday cake, which George Washington will cut with his sword - an exact replica of the Bailey Silver & Ivory-Hilted Cuttoe from the Smithsonian - during the park's Presidential birthday celebration.
Bakery owner Beth Rubin and her team will again be whipping up a three-tiered cake for the celebration, which is taking on an extra air of celebration this year as the nation celebrates its 250th birthday.

The cutting of the cake is traditionally accompanied by a grand entrance by General Washington, 18th century military music by the park's Fifes and Drums, a chorus of "Happy Birthday" and words from the man of the hour.
In a social media posting, park officials expressed gratitude to Rubin and The Caketeria team for their creativity, dedication, and long-standing support of the celebration, which is scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. at the park.
