NEWTOWN, PA — Newtown Fire Rescue is asking the public to call 911 if they are experiencing an emergency and require the response of emergency services.

"We have noticed an increase in members of the community calling the fire station's phone number when they are experiencing an emergency," said Chief Glenn Forsyth. "If you are experiencing an emergency, even if you're not sure it's an emergency, you should call 911."

Newtown Fire Rescue is a combination fire department, which means that from Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., Newtown Fire Rescue is staffed by career firefighters who respond to emergency calls. Outside of those hours, Newtown Fire Rescue is staffed by volunteers who aren't always in the fire station.

"Once you call 911, the dispatchers at the Bucks County Emergency Communications Center will take your call and dispatch the appropriate resources to you," said the chief.
