Newtown Theatre Reaches Into Its Cult Vault "To Relive The 80s"
Historic Newtown Theatre celebrates the works of filmmaker John Hughes with a five-film cult vault series.

NEWTOWN, PA — The historic Newtown Theatre is bringing back its popular “Cult Vault” series with five John Hughes’ films. Free “Gen X: We Don’t Care” stickers will be available at the movies on a first-come, first-served basis.
The cult series is sponsored by Attleboro Wealth Management in Yardley.

- “The Breakfast Club” (1985) on Tuesday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. Five high school students from very different social circles spend a Saturday in detention and discover they have more in common than they thought.
- “Pretty in Pink” (1986) on Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. Working-class teen Andie navigates love, friendship and social class when she’s asked to prom by a wealthy classmate.
- “Weird Science” (1985) on Tuesday, April 21 at 7:30 p.m. Two socially awkward teens use a computer experiment to create the woman of their dreams, only to have their lives turned upside down.
- “16 Candles” (1984) on Tuesday, April 28 at 7:30 p.m. On her 16 th birthday, Samantha feels invisible when her family forgets her big day amid wedding chaos.
- “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1984) on Tuesday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. A charismatic high schooler skips school for an unforgettable day in Chicago.
One of the most influential filmmakers of the 1980s, John Hughes was particularly known for his authentic and empathetic portrayals of teenagers. His films helped define a generation and continue to shape how coming-of-age stories are written, filmed and understood today.

Tickets for each movie are available at TheNewtownTheatre.com or at the theatre’s box office starting 30 minutes before showtime. Prices are $14 for adults,
$12 for seniors and students, and $8 for theatre members.
Beer, wine, and canned cocktails will be available for purchase at the theatre before each movie.
