Newtown Township Awards Road Repaving Bid; Announces Earth Day Event

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — Did your street make the Newtown Township 2023 road paving program?
Under this year’s road program, the township will pave 3.08 miles of roads at a cost of just under a million dollars.
The board of supervisors on March 22 awarded the $973,436 contract to Harris Blacktopping in Washington Crossing, which submitted the lowest bid on the project.

Scheduled for repaving this year are Lower Dolington Road, Redwood Lane, Ebony Court, Tamarack Court, Sequoia Drive, Canterbury Drive, a portion of Eagle Road, Lafayette Street, Valley Court and Rosefield Drive.
In other news, the township’s EAC announced plans for a joint Earth Day celebration with the Newtown Borough EAC on Saturday, April 22 at 7 p.m. at the historic Newtown Theatre.

The EAC’s will be presenting environmentally-themed documentaries followed by a discussion moderated by WHYY’s Marty Moss Coane. The panelists will include representatives from AFewSteps.org; Penn Environment; Eco-Systems; the Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve; and the Bucks County Foodshed Alliance.
The panel will discuss becoming a greener consumer, turning your food dollars green, re-wilding your backyard and shifting to renewable energy.
“Attendees will walk away with changes they can make in their lives to improve the health of the planet,” said EAC member Peter Gilles.
