Career Firefighter Joins The Ranks At Newtown Fire Rescue (patch.com) — Newtown residents are welcoming a new full-time firefighter and EMT as Anthony Vaccaro is sworn in to join Newtown Fire Rescue. His hiring brings the department to 13 firefighters and two chiefs, helping maintain 12-hour daily coverage for both the township and borough. Local officials and family gathered for the ceremony highlighting his experience and commitment to the community.
   

2. Bucks County Community College Names Municipal Police Academy Director (patch.com) — Newtown's Bucks County Community College has appointed Chris Willard to lead its new municipal police academy at the Newtown campus. The academy will provide state-required Act 120 training for future officers, expanding the college's public safety programs. Applications open in spring, with the first class expected to start in August 2027.
   

3. LaScala Bringing Its "Fire" Restaurant Concept To Newtown (patch.com) — Newtown diners can look forward to LaScala's Fire opening at the Village at Newtown on October 17, taking over the Ardana Food and Drink space after its October 10 closure. The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors has granted conditional use approval, and Ardana's current staff have been offered positions to maintain familiar faces and hospitality for the community.
   

4. Redevelopment proposal in Newtown could add new chapter to borough's architectural history (bucksindependence.com) — A major Liberty Centre redevelopment is being floated for a nine-acre site in Newtown Borough, promising mixed-use buildings, a village square, and new public gathering spaces if it moves forward. Residents will have more chances to weigh in at future borough sessions, while nearby Neshaminy schools remind fans that drones need prior approval and a rescued snapping turtle recovers at a local rehab center.
   

5. Tickets Now On Sale For 26th Annual Bucks County FilmFest (patch.com) — Newtown's historic Newtown Theatre will host the 26th Annual Bucks County FilmFest on Saturday, October 17, giving local film lovers a full day of indie screenings, a screenwriting table read, filmmaker panel, and awards. With everything set in walkable downtown Newtown, your ticket also supports regional arts, local businesses, and emerging filmmakers while you explore nearby shops and restaurants between sessions.
