2 Pedestrians Struck By Car In Newtown Borough
An 85-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man from Newtown Township were crossing the street when the accident occurred Wednesday morning.
NEWTOWN BOROUGH, PA — Two pedestrians were struck Wednesday morning as they were crossing South State Street at the Stocking Works, according to Newtown Borough Police.
An 85-year-old woman and a 79-year-old man from Newtown Township were walking westbound across South State Street in a marked crosswalk at 11:08 a.m. when the accident occurred.
According to police, a vehicle driving northbound on State Street stopped to allow them to cross, but a southbound State Street vehicle failed to see the pedestrians and struck them in the crosswalk.

The driver of the striking vehicle was an 85-year-old woman from South Carolina, police said.
Both the man and woman were transported by Newtown Ambulance to St. Mary Medical Center.

According to police, the man was complaining of hip pain, but was able to get up and walk to the
gurney. The woman was a little more serious with complaints of head and abdominal pain, police said. She was conscious and alert after the accident, according to police.
Newtown Borough Police were assisted at the scene by the Newtown Fire Association and the
Newtown Township Police Department.
