Police Make Arrests For DUI, Aggravated Assault In Newtown Township

Police also respond to a retail theft at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center and a flim-flam scam at a township bank.

NEWTOWN TOWNSHIP, PA — The Newtown Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Sept. 8 and 11:

September 8

  • At approximately 4 p.m. police were dispatched to Ulta Beauty for the report of a retail theft. An investigation is ongoing.
  • At approximately 8:30 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Jeep Wrangler for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of East Washington Avenue. Upon speaking with the driver, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing. Charges are pending.

September 9

  • Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence around 7:45 p.m. for the report of a dispute. As a result of the investigation, one subject was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, possessing an instrument of crime, and disorderly conduct.

September 11

  • Police were dispatched to C&N Bank around 12:15 p.m. for the report of a flim-flam scam. The investigation is ongoing.
  • At approximately 11:45 p.m. police conducted a traffic stop on the driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Stoopville Road and Millstone Road. As a result of the investigation, the driver was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Ewing Township Police Department (NJ) and transferred without incident.
