Site Of Future Newtown Chipotle Revealed

NEWTOWN, PA — Chipotle has submitted an application for a restaurant at the Village at Newtown Shopping Center.

The Mexican eatery's application for a restaurant at 2930 South Eagle Road went before the Planning Commission on Tuesday, and will likely be reviewed by the township supervisors later this month.

Township officials confirmed the Planning Commission has recommended the supervisors approve the Mexican eatery.

Chipotle representatives confirmed to Patch last month that they were planning a Newtown location, but would not confirm where.

The Newtown Advance reports the 2,500-square-foot restaurant will be located in a new building under construction at the shopping center, with a target opening date some time later this year.

The fast-casual eatery is one of many new additions to the shopping center as it undergoes a major renovation.

A drive-through Starbucks is currently under construction in the parking lot that is anchored by McCaffrey's. Other additions include Factory Donuts, Nina's Waffles, Turning Point, and Melt Shop, a grilled cheese eatery. Steak Bar by Shula's has received approval to transfer a liquor license for a restaurant at the shopping center.
