Philadelphia Cop Arrested For Shooting At Driver Who Struck Him: Police
Ross Scott is the fifth Philadelphia Police officer to be arrested and charged in less than two months.

PHILADLEPHIA, PA — Another member of the Philadelphia Police Department has been arrested and hit with charges. Officer Ross Scott will be released from the force in 30 days after turning himself into the department's Internal Affairs Unit Thursday, Philadelphia Police said.
Scott, a 9-year veteran of the force, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and possession of an instrument of crime after a May 31, 2016, incident in which he pulled a gun on a driver that struck him while he was operating a motorcycle, police said.
Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross has suspended Scott for 30 days with the intent to dismiss him at the end of those 30 days, police said.

This marks the fifth Philadelphia police officer in under two months to be arrested, charged, and suspended with pending dismissal.
According to police, Scott, 49, was driving his motorcycle off duty at about 11:15 p.m., heading north on Broad Street. When Scott approached the Broad and Tioga street intersection, a Chevy Monte Carlo heading south turned left in front of Scott, causing Scott to collide with the passenger side of the Monte Carlo, police said.

The crash threw Scott from his motorcycle, sending him over the Monte Carlo's hood, and landing on the roadway, according to police.
That's when Scott allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed the weapon at the driver's window, police said.
The Monte Carlo then fled east on Tioga Street, and Scott fired three rounds at the car as it drove off, police said.
According to police, surveillance footage caught Scott's actions on camera.
Scott is the fifth officer to be arrested, charged and dismissed from the force in just a few months. Most recently, an officer was arrested and charged after allegedly chasing his wife while he was in his patrol car, causing her to crash into another vehicle in early May.
Two officers were arrested and charged with crimes in April; one for child pornography charges and the other for striking and killing a pedestrian while driving recklessly when off duty.
In late March, an officer was charged after allegedly abandoning a dog in Wissahickon Valley Park. The dog was emaciated and has since made a full recovery.
