5 Things To Do In Bucks County This Weekend

You can catch some early fireworks displays before the Fourth of July. There's also a colonial celebration and a Pride Fest Block Party.

BUCKS COUNTY, PA —It's time to close out one summer month and get ready to celebrate another with a holiday weekend that also celebrates America.

This weekend —the one before the Fourth of July holiday Tuesday—features a slew of events in Bucks County towns getting a jump start on the festivities with everything from fireworks to colonial celebrations.

Just looking up into the evening sky and seeing bursts of red, white, blue, and other colorful fireworks are enough to get everyone into the holiday spirit. So why wait til Tuesday?

Three fireworks displays are set for Saturday at Shady Brook Farm in Lower Makefield Township, Tinicum Park, and over the Delaware River in New Hope on Saturday. You can also see fireworks at Sesame Place in Middletown Township.

And if you're really in the early holiday spirit, get out to Washington Crossing Historic Park for a whole weekend filled with colonial events.

And while National Pride Month concludes, Doylestown will keep it going one day longer as the Pride Fest scheduled for last weekend but postponed due to inclement weather is rescheduled for Saturday.

Here are some weekend events in Bucks County:

3 Fireworks Shows To Light Up The Sky Saturday

Shady Brook Farm on Stony Hill Road in Lower Makefield Township is holding one of two Summer unWINEd events this Saturday with gates opening at 5 p.m. Enjoy the perfect blend of live music, craft beer, and local wine, all topped off with a fireworks show. Music by The Buzzer Band begins at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 9:30 p.m. with fireworks to end the night. Online tickets are $20 per person and $25 at the gate with children under age 2 free. Also on Saturday, the Riverside Symphonia presents a "Concert Under The Stars" beginning at 8 p.m. at Tinicum Park on River Road in Erwinna. This year the Symphonia presents a combination of pops, movie score classics, and patriotic music, followed by a fireworks finale that celebrates Independence Day. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the gate. Tickets for children ages 7 to 18 are $10. Tickets are on sale by clicking here and at the following locations: Doylestown - Thompson Toyota, Thompson Lexus, and the Thompson BMW Service Centers at Route 313 and 611 and at Siren Records on East State Street. Frenchtown - Frenchtown Home and Hardware, 11 Kingwood Avenue. Lambertville - Blue Racoon on Coryell Street. Stockton - Stockton Fine Wine on Bridge Street. New Hope - Angels Cards and Gifts on West Bridge Street. Milford - Holland Liquors, 641 Milford Warren Glen Road.

Then there's the fireworks display over the Delaware River in New Hope that takes place at 9:35 p.m. Saturday where residents of the riverside communities of New Hope and Lambertville, N.J. will witness a 10-minute barrage of fireworks. (Reach this Patch article for more details.)

Washington Crossing Park Plans Extended Fourth Of July Celebration

Keeping with that holiday spirit, Washington Crossing Historic Park will have an extended Fourth of July celebration with Colonial Day on Saturday and a car show on Sunday besides its Fourth of July festivities. Colonial Field Day features popular games from the 18th century with some competition events. On Sunday, the fifth annual "Rebels & Redcoats Classic Car Show" will feature only classic American, French, British, and German cars, representing the four major countries involved in the Revolutionary War. Music Off Main Showcases Local Bands In Yardley

If you like music in the setting of a local park, then Yardley is the place to go. Experience Yardley recently kicked off its summer concert series with slates of shows each weekend through late August. The program used to be called Music on Main but, in an effort to keep residents safer, the concerts shifted to Buttonwood Park and the name changed to Music Off Main. Doylestown Pride Fest Block Party Back On For Saturday

The rain put this party off for a week. But Doylestown Pride Festival Block Party is back on from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Block Party, to be held on East State Street between Pine and Main Streets, will feature more than 28 vendors, including a mix of businesses, service, and nonprofit groups and organizations. Experience Nkwiluntàmën at the Pennsbury Manor

Artist Nathan Young takes listeners across the historic site, experiencing sounds of music, voice, and environmental recordings. The original composition embodies indigenous agency, honoring and reimagining environmental song-making traditions that survive his tribe's diaspora across North America.

The event takes place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. every Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at the Pennsbury Manor at 400 Pennsbury Memorial Rd., Morrisville. Tickets are $3 per person with advanced registration recommended, but not required.
