Phase III Of Sidewalks Project Has Yardley Seeking State Grant
Borough Council applied for a $100,000 PennDOT grant. Phase II of the North Main Street project is expected to be done by year's end.

YARDLEY, PA —While work progresses on Phase II of the North Main Street sidewalk improvements, borough officials are gearing up for Phase III.
At a recent meeting, Borough Council discussed applying for a PennDOT grant that would cover the remaining $31,255.49 deficit on the project.
Phase II is expected to be completed by the end of the year, borough officials said. The contractor for the project is GB Construction. Work began in mid-November.

"We're hopeful to get it," Councilman Matt Curtin said. "If we get the $100,000, we'd get a surplus so we've got to apply."
One resident asked how the borough's chances would be.
"We're 1 for 1," Curtin said.
Councilman Matt Ross said the borough had a "difficult time" with Phase 1, but that once that phase was completed, the odds improved.
"We were good for Phase II," Ross said. "Now when we look at the whole project, we have a very high chance the more shovel-ready you are."
The motion was approved unanimously.
Johnson, in her budget presentation to the council, had listed the sidewalks project among the borough's 2022 accomplishments.
