Yardley Loses Part-Time Police Officer
After a year on the force, Robert Gergal Jr. has been hired for a full-time position by the Newtown Township Police Department.

YARDLEY BOROUGH, PA —The Yardley Borough Police Department has another part-time position to fill.
After serving a year as a part-time police officer, Robert Gergal Jr. was hired recently for a full-time position by the Newtown Township Police Department.
"Congratulations to former YBPD Officer Bob Gergal on his appointment," Yardley Police posted on Facebook. "Good Luck Bob and congratulations to all those promoted."

Gergal comes to Newtown Township “highly recommended” from the Yardley Borough Police Department where he worked under Police Chief Joseph Kelly III.
Gergal graduated from Neshaminy High School in 2018 and earned an associate's degree from the Bucks County Community College in 2020. He graduated from the Temple University Police Academy in 2021 and has been employed as a part-time officer in Yardley Borough since Sept. 2022.

Gergal has a family history of fighting crime. He said his grandfather had served as a Bucks County detective.
Yardley has gone through several part-time police officers since Gergal was hired a year ago.
The police department recently welcomed Police Officer Daniel Winter II as a part-time officer in late August.
In April, the borough hired part-time police officer James Routh.
In late February, the police department hired Lucas Murray to replace Heather Carnivale, who left in mid-October to take a full-time post with the Lower Southampton Township Police Department.
Last October, police officer Dakota B. Romberger was promoted to the full-time ranks.
