Be Careful What You Wish For

For quite a few years my right knee has needed replacing. I can't stand to go to a doc (long story from my childhood), so I've just put up with it mainly as much as I could. In 98 I had a "patch" job done on it, but was warned that it would not make it too long.

About a month ago, it really started to give me problems. Then last week it got really tight and sore, to the point that I could hardly walk on it. Plus my big toe froze up and the other toes would hardly move. The pains in my knee and toe would have me crying out. It got to the point last Saturday night I couldn't handle it anymore. I whimpered until I finally fell asleep.

That only lasted a few hours. I was awake again in 4 hours, in pain, and to top it off, now my stomach was hurting. I was awake for several hours before I could go back to sleep. When I got up the next morning, I guess I must have looked pretty rough, because the first thing my wife said was, "Well, are we going to church or not?"

We went. I hobbled and wobbled and sat down as soon as I got to a chair. We start our service off with praise and worship, and we stand at the beginning and usually through that portion of the service. I just sat there while my wife stood for awhile, then she sat and got really still.

I prayed while sitting in that chair that God would take the pain away. Come to find out, that is what my wife was also praying for. By the end of the 3rd song, I felt the tension go out of my knee. I tried to move it and I could bend it easily. I tried my toes. They WIGGLED!

Our preachers wife is a PT and during intermission, she had me hold her hands and do the tip toe. I did it for at least a minute. Then I did it on just the one foot that I was having the problem with.

Now I was happy, and rejoiced and shared the good news with the congregation. The service was powerful in many ways today, and my experience was just a small part.

So now, I get to cancel the appointment with the orthopedic surgeon here in Easley that was scheduled for Wednesday. I can't wait to tell them I went to another physician, the Great Physician for my healing this time. It was quicker (and cheaper!) than what he could have done, although I have been told that he is a great surgeon.

So here is my dilemna. We have been redoing our bathroom. Little by Little I almost have it finished. We are working now on the kitchen and the master bedroom needs painting. While I was crippled up, I didn't have to do everything that was piling up.

Now that I'm doing great, I have a ton to complete this week (move furniture, pull old carpet and pad, pack up excess in boxes). Now don't get me wrong, I'll be glad to get this done. But now I'm left with one suggestion for anyone who believes in prayer. BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU PRAY FOR! IT JUST MIGHT WORK (AND YOU WILL TOO!!)
