Easley Men's Soccer has a bright future
Green Wave Men's JV soccer comes up one goal short in hard fought battle at Pendleton tournament Friday.
Friday night (March 2, 2012) I had the privillege of watching the Easley Men's JV soccer team play against Wren. It was the final game in a tournament held at Pendleton High School in Pendleton, SC. It was an exciting hard fought game between two rival teams.
While the Golden Hurricane prevailed by a score of 1-0 the Green Wave displayed great potential and tremdous heart in contest. Easley fell behind by one goal very early in the game. But the Green Wave defense held Wren to just the one early goal. In the previous 3 games Wren had scored 17 goals while giving up 0.
Easley's defense was anchored by an outstanding performance from freshman Reed Jones. The offense threaten to score several times, particularly late in the game, lead by great ball handling by by several players including freshman Ned Butts and eighth grader Stephen Parsons.

Wren took home the first place trophy with the hard fought win over Easley with a perfect 4-0 record in tournament play. After the game the Wren coach priased the Easley team. He noted the skill, tenacity, and especially the conditioning of the Easley team.
Both teams played very well. While both teams played hard and played to win it was a clean wel- played game and both schools should be very proud of their team. Both school can certainly look forward to a successful Men's JV soccer season.
