Have You Ever Been Dunked When Someone Went Overboard?

I visited a local donut shop last night to get my wife a donut and coffee- she can finally have some regular foods after her surgery. She wanted a creme donut and a coffee, extra creme, extra sugar. I asked the guy if he had any creme ones as I pulled in the drive thru, and he said he had a vanilla creme- one left. He gave me the total and I pulled up to the window. He came to the window looking a little sheepish, and told me the other worker had sold the last vanilla creme "out from under him." He apologized, and told me he had some jelly donuts left. While he went to get one and the coffee, the other worker came to the window, apologized for that happening and said that they always tried to accomodate the customer. Jokingly I told her next time just include a free one and we'll call it even. Well, between the two of them, I left there with my bag without an increase in cost. Needless to say, I left there VERY happy.

As christians, do we go above and beyond when someone needs us? Do we point the way to the nursery in church or do we escort the new couple and quickly get to know them while walking down the hall?

Do we pat ourselves on the back when we help our neighbor clean up their yard, only to leave grass that needs cutting showing now that the debris is gone? Why don't we jump on our riding mower and cut it real quick and let the neighbor rest his push mower for once?

Anyone can help someone else. But do you do the minimum or the maximum? Take the time to go "overboard" today with someone. Then maybe you'll get dunked too!
