• Search in South Carolina for missing 12-year-old girl (thestate.com) — Authorities in Lexington County are searching for 12-year-old Vanessa Marryman, last seen Friday afternoon at a home on W E Jeffcoat Road in Gaston, between U.S. 178 and U.S. 321. Lexington-area residents are urged to watch for a 5-foot-6 girl wearing a black tank top, blue jeans, and brown cowboy boots, and to call 911 immediately with any sightings or information. 
• Fourth of July scratch-off turns into $500,000 win for Midlands man (wltx.com) — A Midlands man scored a $500,000 prize from a $10 scratch-off bought at the Quick Serve convenience store on South Lake Drive in Lexington County. His July 4 ticket from the South Carolina Education Lottery brought him major financial breathing room, while the local store earns a $5,000 commission from the winning sale.
