Prysmian Breaks Ground on $80M Expansion Project in Lexington, South Carolina (westmetronews.com) — An $80 million expansion at Prysmian's Lexington facility is set to add about 130 new jobs and significantly boost local fiber-optic cable production. Company leaders and town officials say the project underscores Lexington's growing role in advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure. Construction is underway now and is expected to wrap up in the first half of 2028.
   

2. Lexington could pass along street light costs (lexingtonchronicle.com) — Lexington Town Council is weighing three options that could change how much the town pays toward neighborhood street lights, including a possible phase-out of most operating costs. With current expenses already topping $500,000 a year, council will revisit the proposal Oct. 5. Homeowners associations and residents may eventually see more responsibility for lighting bills depending on the decision.
   

3. Lexington County Man Sentenced to Life for Murder on Oak Ridge Lane; Victim stabbed over 126 times (westmetronews.com) — A Lexington man has been sentenced to life in prison for murdering Caldwell "Jay" Motley Jr. on Oak Ridge Lane in Lexington, plus concurrent terms for attempted murder and arson. Prosecutors say digital, DNA, and fingerprint evidence tied him to the brutal 2024 attack and house fire that also critically injured another victim. He will serve his sentence without the possibility of parole.
   

4. SC high school football scores from Week 6 of 2026 SCHSL season (goupstate.com) — Lexington football edged Blythewood 28–21 in Week 6 action, while nearby River Bluff rolled past A.C. Flora 38–7. The roundup lists scores from across South Carolina, giving local fans a quick snapshot of how teams around the Midlands and the state are performing as the SCHSL season heats up.
