• Tropical Grille ordered to pay $618K after labor violations at numerous SC locations (wbtw.com) — Simpsonville employees at Tropical Grille are among 779 workers receiving back wages after federal investigators found overtime, record-keeping, and child labor violations across 12 Upstate locations. The Greenville-based chain has paid more than $618,000 in wages plus $100,000 in penalties, and its CEO says the problems stemmed from a 2024 investigation that the company has since addressed. 
• LSU Volleyball: Jurnee Robinson Drops 34 Kills As Tigers Beat Wake Forest in Season Opener (tigerrag.com) — A Simpsonville native is making national waves in college volleyball, as LSU senior outside hitter Jurnee Robinson racked up 34 kills and a double-double in a five-set win over Wake Forest. Her performance moved her into the Tigers' all-time top 10 for career kills, underscoring how far a Simpsonville athlete can go on the NCAA stage.
• Gary Eugene Campbell, age 75 (kttn.com) — Simpsonville is now home to the grieving family of 75-year-old Gary Eugene Campbell, who passed away there on August 27 after a life largely spent in Trenton, Missouri. Loved ones are invited to a September 6 visitation and funeral in Trenton, and memorials to Compassion International can be mailed to his wife at their Simpsonville address.
