Coronavirus Cases In Travis County At 179
Coronavirus cases increased in Travis County, with 179 cases confirmed as of Saturday afternoon.
AUSTIN, TX — Travis County now has 179 reported cases of coronavirus as of Saturday afternoon, up from 160 cases Friday. The first fatality in Travis County was confirmed Friday, just before a fatality Saturday was announced in Williamson County.
While patients range in age from younger than 10 to older than 90, the age group with the most COVID-19 cases is the 20-39 range, which has 89 of the 179 confirmed cases.

To better inform the public on local illness statistics, Austin Public Health on Thursday unveiled a dashboard containing data on cases — age groups and genders among the afflicted. To see the data, visit www.AustinTexas.gov/COVID19.

The region encompassing Travis and Williamson counties is under a shelter-in-place order designed to mitigate the potential spread of illness. Under the directive, residents are asked to stay at home as much as possible to blunt the speed of virus spread that is transmitted via respiratory droplets emitted by infected people upon coughing or sneezing.
