Donald Trump Transition Team Launches Website, Twitter Account Asking Americans How to Make America Great Again

The transition team of president-elect Donald Trump has launched a website and Twitter account in a measure that it says is the start of a transparent presidency, promising to keep Americans informed of the incoming administration's plans — but also asking them for advice.

On the website, greatagain.gov, Trump's team promises: "The Trump-Pence Transition will provide timely and accurate information about the President Elect and Vice President Elect’s events, public statements, and announcements."

The site details an agenda for the incoming Trump administration’s plans for “Making America Great Again” — securing the U.S.; reforming taxes, trade, transportation infrastructure, health care, veterans administration and finances; and building the wall on the U.S.-Mexico border.

It also includes a notice that the transition team, led by embattled Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, is looking to fill 4,000 presidential appointments but doesn’t explain how that will happen or have instructions on how to apply for positions.

The site was launched on Thursday as Trump left to meet with President Obama at the White House — a tradition to ensure a smooth transfer of power from one administration to another. On Wednesday, Obama signaled that the oftentimes personal feud between the two would not be a hindrance to the transition.

“It is no secret that the president-elect and I have some pretty significant differences,” said Obama, while also noting that he is “rooting for his success in uniting and leading the country.”

In his Election Day victory speech, Trump said he would work to unify Americans.

"I pledge to every citizen of our lands that I will be the president for the American people," Trump said. "For those who have chosen not to support me in the past, for which there were a few people, I'm reaching out to you for your guidance and your help so we can work together and unify our great country."

Trump's biography on the transition website focuses on his business brand, touting him as "the very definition of an American success story" and says, “In New York City and around the world, the Trump signature is synonymous with the most prestigious addresses in the world.”

Only in the last paragraph of his lengthy bio does it mention his interest in politics, the 2016 race or why he ran.

The transition team also launched a Twitter account, @transition2017, that had nearly 20,000 followers as of Thursday morning.

The Twitter account also called for input from Americans on how they would like to see the Trump administration "make America great."
