FBI Hits Hillary Clinton Again With Document Release, Obama's Final Mission, Black Early-Voter Turnout and More
The FBI dropped 129 pages of documents related to its investigation of Bill Clinton's pardon of a donor, plus more from today's news.
Hillary Clinton's campaign is raising serious questions about the role of the FBI in the 2016 election after the agency released on Tuesday records on a 15-year-old investigation into Bill Clinton's presidential pardon of fugitive financier Marc Rich. The FBI posted 129 pages of records in its digital Freedom of Information Act reading room in response to a request on FBI inquiries into the Clinton Foundation.
The timing of the release was not lost on the Clinton campaign: “Absent a FOIA litigation deadline, this is odd. Will FBI be posting docs on Trump’s housing discrimination in ’70s?” Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon asked on Twitter.
On Tuesday morning, Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook said the FBI should release any information regarding investigations into Donald Trump's dealings in Russia out of "fairness."

“The FBI has been frustratingly noncommittal, and they don't say a thing when it comes to Donald Trump and investigations against him. Yet when it comes to Hillary Clinton, for some reason, they're more than happy to talk,” Mook said on CNN. “There's a lot out there on Donald Trump. Again, it was shocking to me yesterday that every time people asked questions about investigations pertaining to Donald Trump, they are tight-lipped and silent, quote-unquote sticking with protocol. When it comes to Hillary Clinton, they don't.”

After Another Release of Documents, FBI Finds Itself Caught in a Partisan Fray: "The surprise tweet from a little-used FBI account came about 1 p.m. Tuesday, announcing that the agency had published on its website 129 pages of internal documents related to a years-old investigation into former president Bill Clinton’s pardon of a fugitive Democratic donor. The seemingly random reminder of one of the darkest chapters of the Clinton presidency a week before the election drew an immediate rebuke from Hillary Clinton’s campaign — with its spokesman tweeting that the FBI’s move was 'odd' and asking whether the agency planned to publish unflattering records about Republican candidate Donald Trump." Obama's Final Mission: Help Clinton close the deal: "For Obama, whose final mission as president is the election of a Democratic successor and the preservation of his eight-year legacy, next Tuesday will serve as a testament to whether he was able to help his one-time opponent close the deal in a historic election." Black Turnout Falls in Early Voting, Boding Ill for Hillary Clinton: "African-Americans are failing to vote at the robust levels they did four years ago in several states that could help decide the presidential election, creating a vexing problem for Hillary Clinton as she clings to a deteriorating lead over Donald J. Trump with Election Day just a week away." (The New York Times)
White Nationalists Plot Election Day Show of Force: "Neo-Nazi leader Andrew Anglin plans to muster thousands of poll-watchers across all 50 states. His partners at the alt-right website 'the Right Stuff' are touting plans to set up hidden cameras at polling places in Philadelphia and hand out liquor and marijuana in the city’s 'ghetto' on Election Day to induce residents to stay home. The National Socialist Movement, various factions of the Ku Klux Klan and the white nationalist American Freedom Party all are deploying members to watch polls, either 'informally' or, they say, through the Trump campaign." Pro-Donald Trump Robocall Accuses 3rd-Party Candidate Of Being Gay: "Donald Trump is in danger of losing Utah on Nov. 8 but not to Hillary Clinton. Former CIA officer and third-party candidate Evan McMullin has been barnstorming the deeply religious state as a sane, conservative alternative to Trump so voters don't have to pick Clinton to keep him out of office."
