WASHINGTON, DC — The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday said it will not pursue a civil investigation into the COVID-19 deaths of nursing home residents in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

In a letter obtained by CNN, justice officials decided not to pursue the case after reviewing information provided by the states.

In October, the federal agency initially opened into two facilities in New Jersey. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is also under fire, accused of covering up coronavirus-related deaths in state nursing homes.
