Mississippi Asks Supreme Court To Reopen Roe V. Wade
A brief defending the state's ban on abortion after 15 weeks of pregnancy called on the Supreme Court to return the decision to states.

WASHINGTON, DC — The state of Mississippi on Thursday filed a brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, defending the state’s stance on abortion and asking the court to overturn the landmark 1973 ruling that made abortion legal in the United States.
The Supreme Court is slated to hear arguments against Roe v. Wade this fall, Politico reported. In the brief, Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch argued that because the United States has changed so much in the nearly 50 years since Roe v. Wade, the court should reopen the case.
Mississippi has been a test case on whether state laws banning pre-viability abortions are considered unconstitutional. Mississippi’s law banned abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy, but it was struck down by lower courts, citing Roe v. Wade as precedent.
