Second Baylor University Player Arrested Amid Woman's Claims Of Being Gang Raped
Arrest of Shamycheal Chatman comes one day after former football team member TreVon Armstead was arrested in connection with same case.

WACO, TX — The U.S. Marshals Task Force on Thursday arrested a second Baylor football player in connection to a woman's claims that she was gang raped in 2013, according to media reports.
Shamycheal Chatman, 23, was arrested in Houston on a warrant charging three counts of sexual assault, KWTX reported. The arrest comes one day after former Baylor tight end Tre’Von Armstead was arrested in connection to the same case.
A Waco grand jury indicted Armstead on three counts last week, but his the records were sealed until hi arrest, the news station reported. Chatman was indicted by the same grand jury, according to the report.

"We have been working with Baylor and they have been cooperating in providing us information on various incidents including sexual assaults," McLennan County District Attorney told reporters after Armstead’s arrest in Port Arthur.
Armstead played in 27 games for the Baylor Bears, with five receptions for 62 yards and one touchdown. By September 2015, he was kicked off the team over an unspecified violation of team rules, according to the report. For his part, Chatman transferred in 2013 from Baylor to Sam Houston State University, where he played linebacker after sitting out one season.

Baylor University has been embroiled in scandal since allegations of sexual abuse have come to light. A lawsuit filed in January against Baylor University alleges that 31 football players committed rape more than 50 times, including five gang rapes between 2011-2014 — an estimate far exceeding a number provided by school regents in the ongoing campus scandal.
