WASHINGTON, DC — Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul, known for making inflammatory remarks surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, was suspended from YouTube this week after claiming cloth masks are ineffective against the virus. The suspension is in place for seven days, according to reports.

In the now-removed video, the Republican senator falsely claimed, "Most of the masks you get over the counter don’t work. They don’t prevent infection," adding that “cloth masks don’t work."

Paul later called the suspension a "badge of honor."
