Toyota Announces Recall Of Nearly 700K Cars Over Stall Risk
The automaker said Monday that it is recalling nearly 700,000 Toyota and Lexus vehicles from across the country.

Toyota said Monday that it is recalling about 696,000 Toyota and Lexus vehicles over concerns that the models are equipped with a fuel pump that may stop operating and cause the vehicle to stall.
The issue can increase the risk of a crash.
The recall includes certain 2018 and 2019 Lexus LS 500, LC 500, RC 350, RC 300, GS 350, IS 300, ES 350, LX 570, GX 460 and RX 350 models. Additionally, certain 2018-19 Toyota 4Runner, Camry, Highlander, Land Cruiser, Sequoia, Sienna, Tacoma and Tundra models are also affected.

Toyota said the fuel pump on the affected vehicles may stop working, which would trigger a sequence of events that could possibly stop the car.
"If this were to occur, warning lights and messages may be displayed on the instrument panel, and the engine may run rough," the automaker said in a press release. "This can result in a vehicle stall, and the vehicle may be unable to be restarted."

Toyota is still developing a solution.
When the remedy for the fuel pump is available, it will be provided to vehicle owners at no cost, Toyota says. Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by first-class mail by mid-March.
