ACROSS AMERICA — Many people felt Mother Nature's fury this week as unusual weather swept through several U.S. states, bringing strong storms, hurricane-force winds and tornadoes to many parts of the country.
Almost a week after a deadly tornado outbreak in Kentucky and neighboring states, families of the victims are still processing the terrible toll. On Friday, the body of a missing teenager was found, bringing the total of storm-related deaths in five states to 90, including 76 in Kentucky.
And in the Midwest, five people were killed when a powerful storm system swept across the Great Plains on Wednesday, closing highways in western Kansas, spawning reported tornadoes in Nebraska and Iowa, and raising concerns about fires because of unusually high temperatures.

Separately, on Friday, the suburban Minneapolis police officer who shot and killed Daunte Wright spoke publicly for the first time, testifying that the traffic stop “just went chaotic” after Wright tried to get back into his car and leave.
"I remember yelling, Taser, Taser, Taser, and nothing happened, and then he told me I shot him," said Kim Potter, who is charged with manslaughter in Wright’s April 11 death.
