The Franconia Museum, Inc. Isa 501(c)(3) tax exempt volunteer organization incorporated under the laws of Virginia. Formed in 2002, The Franconia Museum is a local history museum dedicated to preserving the past, present and future of the Franconia area knits pictures, artifacts and stories. It is difficult to imagine looking across eight lanes of traffic on Franconia Road that it was once a rural "rolling road" for Virginia tobacco on its way to the port city of Alexandria. Before it was a bedroom community, Franconia was the birthplace of the only state governor from Northern Virginia, witness to Civil War raids and home to a thriving African-American community called Carrolltown.
