He matriculated at Colby College in Maine where he studied English, ran track and cross country and wrote about White Mules athletics. After graduation, he became a staff writer at a Vermont daily and developed a passion for feature writing, especially profiles. 

John is a crazed Boston sports fan who secretly misses the days when his teams were lovable losers and Pedro ruled the mound. He currently resides in Somerville.
