4 People Rescued By Good Samaritan After Boat Accident In York River

ABINGDON, VA – Four people were saved by a Good Samaritan after their boat overturned in the York River on Saturday, according to a local rescue service

Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue reports that crews were called to respond to a boater emergency on the river near the Coast Guard Training Center Pier shortly before 5:30 p.m. As rescue personnel were responding, another nearby vessel found the overturned 17-foot Bayliner, helped four people from the water and took them to shore. Responders from York County Fire’s Fireboat 6 and Abingdon Marine 2 then cleared the scene of the accident, removing floating debris and other hazards.

Abington Volunteer Fire And Rescue thanked the Good Samaritan vessel and other coordinating departments.

On July 4, two children and four adults were also rescued from the river by a Good Samaritan after their boat overturned. They were quickly handed off to local rescue crews.
