ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, VA — Buc-ee's, a Texas-based convenience store chain known for its beaver mascot and the "world's cleanest bathrooms," is planning to build a second Virginia location just weeks after officially purchasing land to construct its first store in the state.

Texas-based Buc-ee's wants to build a massive travel center at the exit 240 interchange along Interstate 81 in Rockingham County, according to the county's Facebook page. According to the company's special use permit application, the 74,000-square-foot store will include 120 spots and 24 electric vehicle charging stations.

If approved, the anticipated opening date would be 2025, officials said.

Buc-ee's also plans to open the New Kent location by 2025, Virginia Business reported. At least two more locations are planned across the state, according to the publication.

The company's website states that “Buc-ee’s Travel Center is a family-focused travel center featuring a wide range of freshly prepared foods including home-crafted bbq, custom made sandwiches, fresh salads and fruits, baked goods, and sweets as well as a unique collection of gifts, housewares, clothing, and weekend get-away gear."

Buc-ee’s locations are open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The company claims to have the cleanest restrooms and does not allow 18-wheelers on the property.
