Slain Norfolk State Football Player Tried To Rob Me: Suspect
Jaquan Anderson, 22, a former Norfolk State player, was charged with second-degree murder in Friday's shooting.

NORFOLK, VA — The alleged gunman who last week shot Norfolk State University football player Nicholas Ackies to death told authorities that Ackies tried to rob him. Jaquan Anderson, 22, an ex Norfolk State player, was charged with second-degree murder in Friday's shooting.
Anderson was arraigned Monday and remains jailed without bond. Online court records indicate he's being represented by a public defender but don't list a name.
Anderson told a 911 dispatcher that he shot Ackies after his friend tried to rob him, The Virginian-Pilot reported.
