Transgender Activist Stabbed Father To Death In VA Home, Police Say

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA — A Virginia woman is facing multiple charges after police said she stabbed her father multiple times in their Virginia Beach home.

Norah Horwitz, 34, who is a transgender woman, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and stabbing in the commission of a felony after Dr. Abbey Horwitz, 68, was found stabbed to death Saturday, according to Virginia Beach police.

Police said they were called to the Horowitz family home shortly before 9 a.m. where they discovered the elder Horowitz suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead just before 9:15 a.m., police said.

Authorities did not provide a motive for the attack.

Norah Horwitz is being held without bond in Virginia Beach jail, where she is on suicide watch, according to police and reports.

Abbey Horowitz was a dentist at The Art Of Dentistry in Virginia Beach, according to a WAVY report. He was also a prominent figure in the Jewish community as president of the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater and the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater, WAVY reported.

Jeff Tuell, a friend and patient of Abbey Horwitz, described the elder Horowitz as generous and friendly.

“He opened up the business on a Sunday for my father-in-law just before he passed away and took care of an issue he was having, and he was not even a patient of Abbey’s," Tuell told WAVY. "I will never forget that.”

Prior to her arrest, Norah Horowitz wrote for portlandmercury.com, a publication focused on the LGBTQ+ community, Fox News reported. She was also a drag queen and an activist, reports said.
