Virginia Town Morphs Into Zombieland To Film Walking Dead Spinoff
Filming of AMC's "Monument" zombie series will take place the first two weeks of August in Hopewell, Virginia.

HOPEWELL,VA — Downtown Hopewell is being converted into a creepy zombie-riddled area in time for the filming of cable network AMC's "Monument," a spinoff of "The Walking Dead" series. It will be filmed during the first two weeks of August.
A production team has been busy recreating a zombie wasteland along Hopewell Street between East Poythress and East Cawson, which is where two young female protagonists and their plight is unveiled in Monument. The new series will debut on AMC in 2020.
The ten-episode series will follow in the footsteps of the widely popular AMC series "The Walking Dead," now in its ninth season, and the offshoot series "Fear the Walking Dead." Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston will all star in the new series.

Hopewell Street between East Poythress and East Cawson will be closed now through Thursday, Aug. 15 at 6 p.m. Detour signs will be posted to navigate travelers. Production in Hopewell is set to wrap up Aug. 15, WTKR reported.
