Coronavirus Case Average Increases In Virginia, NoVA Cases Stable

As Gov. Ralph Northam urged Virginians to continue health precautions to avoid coronavirus case spikes over the Labor Day weekend, the 7-day average of cases has started to increase in the last week. On Wednesday, 927 new cases were reported, bringing the cumulative total to 122,542 cases. There were 29 new deaths reported on Wednesday, and a total of 2,641 people with the virus have died, according to the Virginia Department of Health. In all, 9,678 hospitalizations have been reported.

Grant To AWLA To Help Alexandria Pet Owners In Need

The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria has received a $10,000 "Better Cities for Pets" grant to help improve the quality of life for animals in the community. The funds will be used to help pet owners with urgent or chronic veterinary concerns in situations where funding is limited.

Loudoun Hunger Relief Scales Up Operations During Coronavirus

Since the start of the coronavirus crisis, Loudoun Hunger Relief has distributed more than 1 million pounds of food to 14,000 families in Loudoun County. That's equal to providing food to about 55,000 individuals, the group said.
