Student Dies Weeks After Washington DC Classroom Beating: Police
A student at Ballou STAY High School in Washington, D.C. has died weeks after at least two people attacked him in a classroom. On Jan. 10, the student refused to allow two people to use his cellphone, so they beat him in the face and body, police said.
Man Pistol-Whipped On Annandale Walking Path
Police are seeking two unknown people that robbed and pistol-whipped a man on a walking trail Sunday in Annandale. The victim was walking on a path around Little River Turnpike and Medford Drive when the two suspects approached at 2:30 a.m.

Reston Assistant Principal Arrested For Shoplifting: Report
Police arrested a woman who tried to leave a Reston Target with nearly $700 worth of merchandise she did not pay for late last week. Police say Melissa Tochterman, 47, of Herndon -- who is an assistant principal at Hunter Woods Elementary School, according to reports -- "left the store with a cart full of unpaid merchandise."
DACA: How Many Recipients Could Be Deported In Virginia
With time running out for Congress and President Trump to reach a deal on the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, data indicates Virginia and the DC metropolitan area could be affected more than most states and metro areas in the U.S. Virginia has approximately 10,100 DACA recipients, the 14th highest number among U.S. states and territories.
