Taco Bell has been pursuing plans to open hundreds of "Cantina" restaurants serving alcohol, and Alexandria is one of those desired locations. Along with traditional menu items, the restaurant would serve alcoholic drinks like twisted freezes, beer and wine.

VA Foreclosure Filings Decline While DC Rate Climbs: Report

The number of foreclosures in Virginia dropped remarkably in 2017 from 2005 when the nation edged toward a financial crisis later in the decade, according to a new report. The state of Virginia, when compared to all other states, is ranked 20th for its rate of foreclosure filings, the report shows. The District of Columbia is not ranked in the analysis, but its foreclosure rate rose sharply last year.

Jailed Woman's Death Ruled Homicide From Prior Attack

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has named the August 2017 death of an inmate a homicide. Henrietta Smith, 53, of Washington, D.C., died of blunt force trauma to the head, according to autopsy results. Fairfax County detectives believe the attack happened before her arrest in the Rose Hill area. But it was that attack ironically leading to her arrest.
